Not really a 'new from old' but I spotted this being offered on my local freecycle site,,so I just had to save it from ending up in the landfill site...

It appears small from this angle but its really quite large with a very heavy base and transformer..
A real stroke of luck as I've fancied one of these for years but could'nt bring myself to spend over £60 on a decent one , as i've learned my lesson about buying the cheapest ones,, the only problem i have now is the bulb looks like its on its way out, and I've no idea how you go about replacing it,, I'll just have to take the tube to a lighting shop i suppose...
over the years I've acquired some handy bits and pieces for freecycle, like those plastic storage trays, shelving ect... you just never know whats gonna turn up..

Those are nice for detail work.

It could be a good candidate for an LED conversion. In the end it may use less heat and power, produce more light, and perhaps even cost you less.

Those circular bulbs just plug in - 4 pins at the plastic join. Also usually a clip opposite the joiner.. TLC Electrics carry them.

Hi there, Mike,
Here's the relevant TLC page https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Lighting_Menu_Index/Lighting_Fluorescent_Index/Fluorescent_Tubes_1/index.html (https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Lighting_Menu_Index/Lighting_Fluorescent_Index/Fluorescent_Tubes_1/index.html).
I expect you'll also find a 'store locator' on the TLC web-site.
