I have disassembled many hundreds of these disc drives for the local scrapyard, they want the ally,
(Iam not into home foundry work) i wanted the screws, magnets, and bearings. However, try finding a tap the right size for the screws. Not the metric ones (quite rare), but the coarse ones. If you find one the right size please let me know where you found one.
Cheers Deko

The vast majority of computer parts were originally specified in the USA, so screws will probably be UNC. The only metric items I've found in PCs are the mounting screws for CD/DVD drives (which originated in Europe).

Hi David
You are right about the screws being UNC, but as near as i can make out, they are mainly 3-48 UNC. A size that has anyone on this side of the pond saying "yer wot, never erd of it" :bang: I have managed to get all other sizes of tap, I.E. 2-56 4.40 6-32 Etc.
But no 3-48 !!!
Cheers Derek

Tracy aren't listing Harrogate on their web site as a show they'll attend this year. Also they are not listed on the Harrogate show site. I hope this will change, but you might want to check with them.
