Should have a plunger on hand wheel to drop in to any series of holes.

So you have put it together and you have the dividing plate on with the arms and plunger. An example say you were drilling 6 holes in a cylinder. The first one have the plunger in the zero hole.Have the left arm with chamfer facing inside push this one up against outside of plunger on the left. Now you want to count your holes then put the plunger pin in that hole and set the other arm up against outside-Sounds complicated-To stop it moving you should really have a spring washer on center piece but this is often missing but you dont really need it-as its just a question of pulling the arms up against the pin each time-if you worried about anything moving you can get one of those thin magnets shops use to hold newspapers to walls and put that up against arms to stop it moving-but you shouldnt need it
