I raced cars something like this about 20 yrs ago. They were running $200+ a car and 80+mph. These look a little smaller than what we had.

I seem to remember that there were two scales 1/32 and 1/24 - you probably had the larger. I enjoyed many happy hours spent slot car racing with rewound motors, double power magnets etc. 4 wheel drive - my favourite was a GT40 - happy days !

Had and still have a early 60' scalextric figure 8 layout with lotus cars. They still are the best they are 1/32scale, had some 1/24 cars that were used at the local track. Rented by the 1/2 hour time back in the 60's was 75ąper half hour. Also have had the old Aurora HO Motoring sets and have a current Tycho brand HO Richard Petty branded set. Many fun filled hours with a number of tracks that were built up over the years.
Went by the local big RC car/truck shop years ago, they are a local scalextric dealer and have rental track next to their two large scale Electric RC tracks.
For your further enjoyment, here are two links you might enjoy

I have a number of the mini HO scale RC cars which are pretty cool and lots of fun with the cats

Had a few of them figure of 8 Lotus from early to mid 60's, should still have them some where along with the Triang railway.

Peter
Chuck the Side Dams (Wings) on those cars fold down at speed to give then a lot of downforce, combined with the shape of the body creating a negative pressure under the cars act like a VACUUM

It's a far cry from the early 60s but it is nice to see that they still come off on the corners.
It was lotsa fun, especially building the cars with no money and no tooling and limited skills.
