I went shopping to Lidl's this afternoon, and they had a load of workshop fans in there. They are only about 8" deep, so can easily be stored against a wall when not needed. They weren't shown on their bargains of the week lists as far as I know.
Three speeds, and on top wack, Bandits ears were being blown back and he had trouble standing against the flow.
I priced these up a few weeks ago, when they told us we were in for a heat wave. Cheapest found was about 40 squid with the postage. This was just under 20 squid. A bargain.

John,
The minimum wage has killed all that stone dead.
I did think of using Bandit in a hampster wheel, with a bone hanging on a stick. But because of EU hygene regulations, the bone would have to be thrown away after each days use. So that would make it fairly expensive to run, unless you were into a bit of sheep rustling.

Whilst in our Empire building stage in India, the Sahib (boss) would have men strategically placed around his house, working manually operated ceiling fans.
The man that pulled the string to make them swing from side to side was called a Punkah Wallah.
You must have seen them in old flims.
