Post by: 75Plus on July 20, 2011, 06:13:35 PM
Take a look at all the information that the shuttle crew must process. Its mind boggling. :bugeye:  :jaw: :bugeye:

I saw the Shuttle console at NASA Ames where I worked years ago.

I was always struck by how all the yokes and levers and keys looked worn and used.  These instruments have been removed and renovated and replaced countless times over the last 30+ years.

Pretty good for something:
1.  Designed in the 70's
2.  Built in the 80's
3.  Flown (quite reliably) till 2011.

Compare this to Soyuz technology that has not changed in 35 years.

We should be proud...

It reminds me of my first mini dash, we had 3 car factories close by Ford Vauxhall and triumph TR7 so for some reason people kept giving you bits and pieces when they knew you rebuilt cars a bit like the John cash song one piece at a time I think it was called, also a lot of scrap yard visits helped as well anyway I had more switches and gauges and spot lights etc than where needed, I rember deciding to re wire and removed a very large box of wire that was all extra and nor realy needed. but I do like the shuttle
