Title: And another Mini Mill DRO upgrade
Post by: No1_sonuk on August 26, 2010, 05:14:47 PM
As mentioned in another mini mill DRO thread, I'm adding a DRO setup to my Warco Mini Mill.

The twist is that I'm doing it in a way that is reversible. i.e. using existing holes and screws, with NO drilling into the machine to mount scales.

Firstly, my scales' readouts don't need to be visible - I'm using a Shumatech DRO350 display.

Here's the Z axis:

At the top is the fixed read head, fitted to a bracket in the Z axis rack groove, secured by the z axis stop screw.

At the bottom, the fixed end of the moving rail is fixed by a p clip to the pin the torsion arm lifts.

Again I'm using a moving rail.
Here it is fixed at one end, using the screw hole for the table end plate.

The fixed read head is secured using one of the chip cover screws:

Y axis to come.
