Title: Aquygen® Gas Generator Welding and plasma cutter gas
Post by: PTsideshow on March 24, 2010, 09:10:21 AM
The Model 1500 Aquygen® Gas Generator runs on water and electricity only! It produces a stable hybrid hydrogen-oxygen gas, with many unique properties. The generator provides a superior gas for most conventional brazing, soldering and metal cutting operations.

Looks to be still looking for investors ect. Sure does look interesting. Would lower the costs of  gas welding. Be a great investment and the savings on both the gas and consumables would pay for it in a short time.
Plus it cut and bores holes in concrete and brick.

Here is their web site (http://"http://www.hytechapps.com/products.html")

It's not a new idea but he seems to have developed it well if we believe the video.

What happens to the water if we convert it to the two elements and burn it. Does the planet then have less water? Some gets re-converted but does all of it?

If it doesn't then I expect we will suddenly be burning our planets life blood. OK we have a lot of it, but we once had a lot of oil and gas too.

There is a Chinese company that is selling something similar world wide currently their web site has the manual on line and other interesting stuff.

http://www.multiplaz.cn/usa/about.asp (http://www.multiplaz.cn/usa/about.asp)

Well it might not be too practical, as the big dogs haven't come out with it yet and as you say it has been around awhile. But it would cut down on the carbon credits

Ok try the above one must be  a google attack on Chinese products.

It's not a new idea but he seems to have developed it well if we believe the video.

What happens to the water if we convert it to the two elements and burn it. Ans-The gases (unstable state) reconvert back to water(stable state)releasing most of the  stored (from the electroisis) energy as usefull heat. It's just another energy transfer system*, but more efficent.

Does the planet then have less water? Ans-No.

Some gets re-converted but does all of it? Ans-Yes, as water drops or water vapor.

If it doesn't then I expect we will suddenly be burning our planets life blood. OK we have a lot of it, but we once had a lot of oil and gas too.

*eg - All cars are solar powered (think about it)  :smart:

Known as Browns gas lots of info on tinterweb some good some bad.

PT,

Web site is down that you posted.

I've played with converting water. From what I gather it takes 2.3 volts and lot's of amperage to seperated those two molecules. But this is the first time I've seen and heard were the "pure" oxegen is mixed back together again. All other instances they use just plain air.

I made a spud gun and used a mixture of oxegen and hydrogen. Sent a potatoe right through a heavy plastic container. I think if you mix the hydrogen with pure oxegen you get a much more intense buring of the gas.

This is one subject that has fasinated me for quite some time. I wish I would have more time to experiment.

Now comes the big question. Anybody that's ever come up with this type of fuel alternative and proved that it is viable has somehow went very quiet or disappeared. Let's see what happens here.

PT, Bernd

I don't think it's viable. Whatever energy is put in to separate the water molcules, you get back by re-combining them.

So, nowt gained. Energy in always equals energy out, even if it doesn't seem so.

Seem to remember something like 'Gibbs Free Energy of Enthalpy, (or some thing like it)'  or 'delta-G-M-Standard'.

Chemistry O-Level a long ... long time ago.

Need a Chemical Engineer

EDIT Here you go, rather you than me.

I have since found out that these are the industrial version of the jewelers water torches. Sort of like putting lipstick on an old high priced tool. And hope nobody notices it. The other thing is even you use a little water and no fuelgas. The amount of electricity that you need to breakdown the water into hydrogen is more expensive than the gases or the consumables for a plasma torch.

So it appears that it answers the question of why the big dogs haven't pushed them. They cost a lot to buy and they cost a lot to operate!

Here's a bit more info on splitting water.

"quote"
It takes 1.24 volts to split water at 77 degree F (25C). A conventional electrolyser operates at 167 to 176 degree F (75 to 80 C) with a current density of around 2,000 amps per square meter. Voltage requirements fall with in 1.9 to 2 volt range. The required energy of input is 4.8 kWh per cubic meter of hydrogen produced.
"quote"

Got the above info out of the book Fuel from Water by Michael A. Peavy.

The best part I like is the free water. You can make your own "sort" of fuel anytime you want. With a bit of wind turbine power you could make your own free fuel so to speak. Second law of thermodynamics be damed.

Boy did this one wander off track!  I was strictly interested in his water powered plasma torch only
But hey that what this site is for. Since the torch uses more electricity than the other types use gas or consumables :bugeye:

"Boy did this one wander off track!"    You got that right.

That is one thing that I love about this site as well. A topic is started and comments made and sometimes go off topic but can end up starting a totally new topic or thread and can be very educational. Just like when a link is posted. You go to check out what you were directed too and while there you spot something else and you return 2 hours later or else you bookmark it for later return. I think that some of my best finds have been made this way. :ddb:  :ddb:

You mentioned "jewelers water torches". I have never heard of them before but I am going to google it and see what I come up with.  :coffee:

Cheers

PS: Maybe we should make this form required reading for all high school and college kids. Think of the well rounded education they would have? :smart:

I'm still trying to come up to speed on that one myself  :coffee:

here is one brand (http://www.spirig.com/index.php?id=97)

Used one $1,500 (http://www.ottofrei.com/store/product.php?productid=19669&cat=1940&page=1)

Another qoute industrial torch, but looks like the standard jewelers torch (http://www.lrultrasonics.com/industries/industrial/aqua.html)

I guess I didn't have enough coffee this morning, as the connection between the first post video and these small jewelry torch didn't click. I guess seeing a rose bud tip cutting the sheet steel. Generally they are  not used for cutting in jewelry work.

Any of the web site links I posted have plenty of pictures, I don't own one and probably nobody else on the forum has one either.
