hi all i got a new toolpost for the compact 8 itsa Bison.T00.B ther is a nuther one with the same number but it ends with the leter M the leters stands for wat model lathe they will fit IE . B is for boxford and .M is for miford bothe use the same sise tool holder so bothe are the same sise exsept in hight the miford one is 10mm smaler in hight they fiton to the lathes by the same way so my toolpost came with a bolt to fit it strate on to a boxford top slide i did not want to mack a bush and fit it on to the bolt sticking out of my top slide so i modifide the bolt that came with it this ment de hardening it drilling and taping m8 ther re hardening it made a new bolt for it to fit on to on my top slide sos no pics of that bit so i naw had to mack a spanner to fit the 19mm nut had a rumige fawnd a 19mm 3/4 drive socet then had a bit of a think as to fit it with a handel i had a 3/4 sqher drive that gose in to a cordles drill so made this fit the socet IE so it sat flush on the top and on the inside then i cheted i don't have a tig welder at home but i do at work so welded the lenth of stanles steel 10mm od with stanles rods a bit of filing and a bit of sanding and its dun right pics

Nicely done!

I agree. Well done and looks good too. :med:
-
I like it! Need to make something like that.
Only thing I don't like is the idea of chrome fumes from welding a chrome plated socket. Chrome is much worse than zinc even.
-
Nicely done
I need to do exactly the same but on a larger scale for my Colchester Master
-
hi thanks for the coments ther was no chrome on the socket its stanles steel thats why i made the handel out of stanles i cud of just filed a sqher on the end of the bar and bent it over but that wood of bin to esey

Very nice. I'll have to look at something similar for my tailstock :)

Nicely done is it removable.
Used to p me off even with a spanner by the side. Needless to say scrapped my old ML7 15 yrs ago but was the best thing ever did. Last lathe I scrapped 5 year ago done similar now use on rear tool post. Its easier to drill and tap round to suit the thread, looks neater too with a screwed in bar.
Its also first thing I did on current lathe, along with replacement similar handles for tail stock locking, screwcut, cross and carriage. You'l wonder why you never did this ages ago.
