I made this nameplate for a friend to give to his girlfriend, who is an elementary school teacher. The mystery aluminum alloy was cut from a discarded Jeep skid plate. The font is Comic Sans MS. The CAD/CAM program I use (CamBam) can take any true-type font text and convert to polylines for g-code generation. The font strokes were just slightly too narrrow for a 1/8" endmill to follow, so I had to use a 1/16". Letters are .05" deep.

My friend will spray paint the plaque, then polish the non-letter surface leaving only the letters colored.

Looks good, what grade does she teach?

I like the way that has turned out. It just about has the look of hand drawn letters rather than all crispy clean lines which I think makes it stand out. I am sure she will be impressed with it. It's not like something everyone else will have. :ddb: :ddb:
