I once made me a small polishing contraption from an old printer, quick and dirty. I used the powersupply from an old mobile.
These jamjars with 6 corners do work well for small pieces. I used this to create a uniform surface before applying pimer and paint.
As the polishing granulate I've tried: cat litter, steel chips, pieces of quartz etc and a granulate from walnut shells.
One has to find the proper conditions by trial and error. Polishing time can be up to 24 h.

Excellent....I really want to make a polishing machine....or tumbler....and I have an old printer I could use.
Thanks for posting, would never have thought of using a printer......
Did all the parts come from the printer....?

Yes, they did. I modified the position of one of the two axis to get them to the same height.
You have to ensure that both the axis are driven and that they do turn into the same direction, OK?

Sounds good to me....thanks....

Looks good. I actually have a small (very) tumbler and want a bigger one... this may be my way.

The tumbler looks like a very useful tool i nearly imported a vibro jobby from US two years ago but the right ingredients were hard to come by in UK only could find very small quantities.
Lots of small aluminium machined parts to debur, blend in, and then mirror polish (mop.)
