Title: What to see and do in New York after Chrismass?
Post by: PekkaNF on October 06, 2012, 03:33:43 PM
Hello,

I have visited Manhattan - over 20 years ago!

Now, our friends invited us to spend new year with them and I have almost two weeks to spend in New York State. Friends live in a small town something like two hours up north from NY. Broad idea to make few day trips around the "base" and do some family stuff.

But some days I can venture my ideas of fun. Anything Madmodder-type sightseeing/participation/palaces within few hundred Km/miles from NY?

About a 3 hour drive from approx where you will be in upstate NY is the, not to be missed, American Precision Museum in Windsor Vermont.

The American Precision Museum looks like a great place to visit. What a pity I live so far away on the fringes of civilisation.

That definately would be place to visit. I'm just concerned that it's not open after chrismas. I spotted this on front page:
Open Daily 10am – 5pm, May 26 – Oct 31
That would be pity.

Museum looked great and it has model engineering show coming up!

Went to see
Watervliet Arsenal Museum

Got surprised because the museum was inside of a working arsenal. Historic machine shop had some older machines, but not sure they were the actual machines that were used in gun production in the past. Nevertheless very nice personnel and time well spent.
