Hi all
Been a while, I've been working out-of-town since mid-June. I'm back home now, and look at what followed me here...
One of the ubiquitous Chinese lathes, this one is 10 x 18, badged as "Craftex"
So, new lathe needs a new bench... :proj:
and finally found a use for the 1/4" thick arborite that I scored off of one of the neighbours twenty years ago
(http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee257/240283/100_4428.jpg)
Still have to make the drawers, and beg, borrow, or steal an engine hoist to pick up
400 lbs of lathe from the floor to plunk it down on the bench.
This will be a whole new range of stuff for me after working exclusively with a Taig (Peatol) lathe.
Cheers, Joe

Merry Christmas. Is it really that time already? I'm still looking forward to Indian Summer. That looks like a nice present that followed you home. That bench certainly looks like it will be sturdy enough to handle the lathe. I hope that you get a chance to use it before they send you out of town again. Thanks for sharing it with the crew.
Cheers

Welcome to the club; same happened here across the pond, Christmas/birthday/anniversary ..all at once, have done the majority of garage conversion & now looking at setting up & testing my new toys, just trammed my 'Chinese' mill (badged as Warco WM16) tonight, all looks good. Keep us posted on your developments, as I intend with my blog.

Well, finished the bench, lifted the lathe by using pry-bars and cribbing,

Hi guys
Thanks for all the comments, I've got to admit that I do enjoy the wood-working stuff as well, so the bench was not
any sort of punishment for me.... :loco:
Used the machine for the first time yesterday, fittingly enough, it was to modify a bolt to attach a QCTP :dremel:
The drawers are filling up nicely already, freeing up some workbench horizontal surfaces that have been storage areas
for quite some time. This of course, will not last
Cheers, Joe
