Title: New Tool for Workshop
Post by: NickG on May 04, 2011, 01:38:47 PM
It's been a long time in coming, I was going to buy one at Harrogate but have finally got my hands on one ...

Somebody from the club had the not so nice task of clearing a friend's workshop out. The guy had bought all sorts of things and not really got around to using them, amongst them was this rotary table - so I said I'd have it, £50 + £15 for the dividing attachment. Seems decent quality, it's a 6" vertex, just collected it last night not had a chance to do anything with it. He took a lot of the smaller items to the club to auction off - the vernier I got for £4 and the thread gauge for a quid. A good night's spending I reckon!

I was looking for a dial caliper because am sick of batteries running out and my cheap digi-vern from aldi isn't the best. I reckon this mitutoyo manual one will be better - you can also see the scale unlike the dathan one my grandad gave me - you need a jewellers loup for that one!

Is it worth me buying a tailstock to go with the rotary table?

£65 all-in is a steal! I'd have took his hand off for it :)
