Hello everyone,
My names Richard,
I'm a returning lurker that has just bought a little peatol lathe from the bay hoping to do some turning/machining for fun and parts fabrication for my little business.
When I receive my lathe and tooling I will hopefully be asking all sorts of basic questions and showing some of my work
If anyone has any links to a good metals supplier that will ship internationally I'd be most thankful
Richard

Hi Richard
Welcome to the collective :borg:
I think you will find the answers to you questions here... including some to questions you didn't even ask :smart:
What sort of business do you have?

Hi Richard,
Welcome to MadModder.
The problem with shipping metals is the weight and cost. I fly to Limoges or Bergerac (the latter in two days' time) but with Ryanair so baggage weight is precious or I'd bring you some.
I think we have other members who live in France, so maybe one of them could assist with suppliers there.

I have a small engine chainsaw/mower/strimmer repair service that i run along side my property maintenance business, It's mostly parts swapping and re-threading/winding pull cords but I've passed over a couple of jobs that i could have made a custom fitting for with a mill or lathe.
Also I've been looking at playing with or re-purposing some of the old strimmer engines in to something useful ???

Hi,
I too am an ex-pat Brit, I live just outside Paris, where are you?
I've used the following on-line supplier once some time ago for a couple of lengths of brass, the service was good and the price reasonable.

As I live in the near suburbs of Paris, I have access to large industrial suppliers so I don't have any other online addresses to give you.
Regards, Matthew

Hi Matthew
I'm down in the haute vienne an hour above Limoges.
thanks for the link I'll have a look when i can and see if I can find something useful, I have a local builders merchant where i can but nuts and bolts for projects but he only stocks mild steel, which is good for practicing but sometimes you need a bit of brass or stainless and I don't really want to use up all my stock of 10mm Titanium bar
