1-5. I didn't know South Bend made surface grinders till I saw this beautifully clean machine on the web.
6. Rob this ones for you, hope it takes you back. It sure reminds me of my youth. :)
7. Came across this somewhere, 1 hour in the shop with odds and ends will get you a very efficient little weld positioner.
8. Steve Chastain's tilt furnace. with a few changes you can cast large castings, 30 to 50 lbs or use it as a dip out furnace for many or continuous small castings.
9. And your smile for the day :)

High maintenance model, I'll stick with the older version I have, even with her high mileage, wear and tear
:wack:
Better hope she doesn't read this, though I suspect she'd be glad I'd choose the little grinder, my tool needs sharpening, not snapping OFF

I have seen a few older similar design non South Bend models around but these pics is as close as I have ever gotten to this model.
Rob that little fixture is a to do for me to could have used it 100 times in the last few years. Great selection there, don't see that to often over here, I would be poorer if an auction like that occurred more often over here.
Models like that are the rarest kind Andrew and if their for sale you don't want them :).

I could fancy one of those as long as she comes with detailed instructions...

Books are the original form of virtual reality!
Read it, dream it, but never get round to making/buying it!!
Its just like reading the Teng/Snap-on/Clarke/Sealey tool catalogues/any other tool porn sites!
Enjoy but just don't buy!!

I am with you on most of that Will. I have always felt and to a lessor degree still feel I can make my own. It started out being 50% enjoyment and 50% frugal (read cheap :) ) and now in retirement is closer to 100% enjoyment. Sometimes things work out, sometimes not but thats ok. Books provide an endless source of ideas, old and new, which you can adapt or change to suite your needs or as you mentioned just dream about doing.

Isn't that dude Anon, pouring some brass? I've seen that pic on AA before.

Not sure where I downloaded the picture from but it wasn't the AA site. In any case putting your neighbor hood at risk of fire would certainly qualify as a bad day for me.
