Any room in here for a little guy? I just picked up a Unimat SL, with a TON of extras. I don't even know what some of this stuff is. Ideally, I'd like to use this machine to test some ideas I have related to hardware on percussion instruments. At some point, the Unimat may have been owned by an optician, because there are a number of optical-related extras. Everybody knows what a Unimat looks like, so I thought I'd start with a picture of something really small.
Looking forward to getting some advice on just what I own and how to use it. More Q's and pictures to follow.

Hiya Jim
Welcome to the collective :borg:
Room for everyone! Doesn't matter the machine or if you even have one.
Let the questions flow...

I own a MJ189 which is a clone of a Unimat 3 or 4. It makes no matter but there is a huge amount of information on the little early 'Uni' which you have acquired.
Much of it will be available on the YahooGroups - Unimat site which you can join.
Might I suggest that once you have joined that you download the excellent stuff from the late Rex Tingey which he compiled into book form?
Again, there is the information on the Emco site which is available. It doesn't really matter which model because the information can be used as a starter for perhaps you as a beginner.
Again, ANY of the other sites covering the smaller lathes such as the Sherline and the Taig will be helpful.
As mentioned by the other posters here, I also wish you well
