Title: what are the bars with the black bits on for ?

I bought this off FB marketplace for £10 , I can see what the threaded bits do ,but not the bars with the black  tubes around them , any ideas anybody

Those would be the standards for the various sizes to verify the size when you put the extension tubes in the anvil.

The black bits are plastic insulators to prevent the heat from your hand from getting into the standards and making them grow in length whilst you are setting the mic.
