Title: Grinding wheel truing
Post by: John Rudd on November 21, 2020, 01:19:38 PM
I'm building a Worden tc grinder, got to the stage of mounting the wheel.
However when I spin it up the wheel isnt running true...

I've checked the mounting....the wheel sits on a a shaft adapter mounted on the motor shaft. Clocking the adapter shows no discernable runout.
But mount the wheel, and the outside of the wheel can be seen to be out of true..

I know the front face of the wheel needs truing first but what about the cone shaped sides?

I realise little can be taken off, else there's the risk of weakening the wheel...,

So what do or should I do?

My big white cup wheel was out every possible way... I had to diamond dress pretty much the whole stupid thing before it stopped shaking!  After that, it works great!

Ok, thanks for that...I guess I ought to break out my diamond dressing tool..
Fortunately the wheel isnt that much out but enough to cause some vibration...
