Title: Not quite new, but rescued
Post by: russ57 on August 08, 2020, 07:59:42 AM
So, cleaning the carpet with a borrowed hoover carpet 'washer'. (desperately needed, my 24yo son just moved out and he wasn't big on cleaning his room...)

Anyway I tripped over the cord and everything stopped...
I had a feeling the cord had partly pulled out of its grommet, and peering through the air holes thought maybe I could see bare wires inside.
Easy I thought, just take the cover off....

So after removing basically every screw, I had a cleaner that looked like it had been through a crusher...

And the offending cables...

It appears the insulation caps on the crimp connectors have parted company. Except for the earth, which had the wire pull out..

A bit of heatshrink and a couple of hours reassembly, and it's a goer. And only 2 screws left over...
I reckon I put about 20 in, no chassis whatsoever just plastic bits screwed together.

Love it when we fix something in the "throw away" culture. Many friends just stare in disbelief when I fix something that was going to be thrown out...

Good job!
