Title: Slow & Easy, That's My Motto
Post by: Troutsqueezer on March 31, 2011, 12:01:17 AM
Seems like I've been working on this one forever! Probably because it's been too cold out in the shed over Winter and now that Spring is here my wife seems to think there's yard work to be done. Add to that my new tractor has been beckoning me away from my hobby.

I would have posted this on HMEM as well but Metal Butcher is making me look bad over there with his five-at-a-time Upshur engine builds. Retirement must be nice.

Long way to go but looking OK so far.

The base is from a plaque they gave me at work thanking me for saving them 35 MILLION bucks....nice. I ripped off the engraved brass plate and got some use out of it.

Looking good, the fun part is to doing the modell, not having it finish, so if it take some time, let it take some time

Hello Trout,

Your Upshur is looking good! I know how you feel with MB making them five at a time and adding things to the design - I'm also making 'only the one' and would bet my pace is slower than yours!

I like the brass accents you've added, especially the sleeve at the base of the cylinder between the cooling fins and mounting plate - really adds to the appearance. That one is a little jewel.

Best,
Mike

Thanks guys. Progress has been slow, the Master has me doing all kinds of garden-related chores for an upcoming visit by her garden club. I do have the rocker arm/post finished and a couple of other parts made since the photo was taken. I also spent some time redesigning my work shop so that my lathe is now two feet off the floor. Now I can sit in my reclining office chair while using it, saving my back.  :med:

New to me, a 2002 Kubota B21. I've been spending a lot of time making it look new again.

I live a couple of miles down a dirt road and the neighbors haven't been doing a darn thing to help maintain it, leaving all the work to me. I bought this to help me out....plus, it makes some pretty nice rock walls on my property. Digs out those unwanted plants and trees my wife gets tired of too.

Good Choice - mine's a 2008 B2320 - essentially the same machine.

Ok, I'd like to join the group with this  :offtopic: subject and show my toy.

Now I remember were I got the idea to add a roof to mine. Hopefully this year.

Hey, tractors are slow and easy so I guess they can fit into this thread.   They sort of go hand-in-hand with hit and miss engines too, if you think about it...

Bernd, I've seen that picture before, I think we were discussing how the Kubota seems to be gloating over the older, forlorn tractor. I do like having the roof, keeps the sun off my head.

Woodguy, don't be shy, lets see that bad boy.

I'll get the thread back on track eventually.

Ya, you did, over on HMEM. I asked about the roof. I need one on mine so I don't get wet/sunburned.  :D
