Title: Hello from sunny Hereford
Post by: 28ten on July 29, 2009, 03:34:38 PM
First post and I am lying, it is still chucking it down here :bang:
What do I like to make? trains usually, but that's not why I am here. I own a C3 lathe (and hopefully a mill in the not too distant future) and after seeing bogstandards work on you tube, I thought I would join before I start to improve the machine, I shall start a thread on my experiences  :D

Hi there 28ten and welcome to the collective  :borg:

Dont forget to take some photos of what you've done / are going to do, cause  :worthless:

We like pics here  :mmr:

Please feel free to share whatever experiences you have.

I have the smaller brother of the C3, the C2 but I wish I'd got a slightly bigger and more rigid lathe like the C4.

Welcome 28ten. Good decision, joining this board.  :mmr:
I've got a C3 as well, done most of the easy mods now.

Welcome to the collective :borg:

I have the c2... wish I would have gotten the c3 or c4. Oh well! You should find plenty of info here about upgrading those machines (the mills too)

Lets see some pictures of the trains!

The image is a little small but it seems to work so here is the lathe, pretty boring and un modded. I have added a small halogen light and a few more goodies since this was taken

It is indeed Great western built in the 30's though. I have added one more picture of a horsebox. the scale is 7mm to the ft which is about double the size of Hornby. the sheet work is mainly brass on Nickel silver.
I would love to be making bigger stuff but I don't have the space/time/money  :(
I used to have access to an ML7 which was superb, I am happy with mini lathe in size terms but as we all know it needs some work to get the the sort of accuracy needed for small parts.
