Title: Miniature Solenoid engine
Post by: flyingtractors1 on June 25, 2013, 05:27:12 PM
I specialize in building miniature tools but have also explored solenoid engines and have built a few.  These might interest some.   Ralph

Hi Ralph,

Thats a nice little engine it's nice to see a mixture of wood and metal. What size batteries did you use? Did you wind your own coil? Turned ou well.
                                                         Cheers David

Thanks David.  Yes, I like to work with wood and metal and believe that the combination of the two yields nice results when the mechanics is combined with electrical circuitry to produce a device.  I think of it as art in motion.  I have wound my own solenoide, but the one used in this engine is commercial from a surplus store.  It is rated at 24 volts, so I used 4 9v batteries in series to power this one as shown below.  See my others on TouTube under "miniature tools by Art Rafael".   Ralph
