Hi All,
In between steam engine jobs at the moment so thought I'd make something usefull, a pair of Engineers Clamps. Didn't quite get the pair finished before SWMBO called me in for tea!!
Still trying to master some basic techniques, and as you may be able to see in the photo, my knurling skills definately need improving, four thumb screws turned and everyone different!! :bang:
Hope this photo loads up, can't see it on the preview!

Looking very good, maybe I should do the same... :D

Nothing wrong with them being all different as long as the clamp works.
All in the process of learning. Wha fun would it be if we all got things right the first time. :coffee:
Nice looking by the way.

Very nice. Knurling always seems to make a project complete.

Looks great to me too.
Don't forget to make some sort of locking between the front screw on the upper clamp arm, so the arm will raise went you unscrew the front screw.

They look good to me. I think I'll put a pair of them on my project list.
Question though, are they not supposed to have RH/LH threads on each rod? I have a pair of Jorgensen wood clamp, and they operate more like a turnbuckle. I guess as long as they work.

Mine have RH threads, Paul. With the knurled ends of the thumbscrews on opposite sides, as in Aestus's pic, if you hold one with one hand and use your other paw to hold the other thumbscrew and then rotate it as you would a crank-handle (so the jaws go round and round between your hands), the jaws stay parallel as they open or close. With LH and RH threads, the thumbscrews would need to be wound in and out individually
Being an amateur, it took me ages to work out how to do that....
