Title: Backlash adjustment
Post by: cparsons on June 17, 2013, 08:37:17 AM
Got a Sieg SC4 in December 2012 and have got to the point where I want to check/adjust the backlash on the compound and cross slide but typically there is no information in the manual...

Anyone know the correct approach to doing this?

The top of the cross slide has two cap screws in the middle and under the compound I can see a brass plate with three cap screws (middle one being smaller than outer ones?)

I have tweaked them a bit and it looks as if the backlash is now 0.1 - 0.14mm - is this reasonable?

Each revolution of the dial is 1mm (for both)

Thanks in advance

Hi Chris,

Not done this myself but this might help even though it's for the C3.
