Title: Chamfering/rounding edges
Post by: rleete on July 22, 2009, 02:40:39 PM
Other than the fairly expensive chamfering or edge rounding mills (more than double what I paid for my whole set of 6 regular mills), is there an alternative?  Granted, with the amount of use they'd get, they would probably last me nearly forever.  But hobby funds are tight, and I need a less expensive way.

Relatively long straight edges I can do on the mill with the proper setup.  Heck, if I want to spend the time, I can use a file.  How about on a radius?  Can I cut a piece of drill rod and harden it to produce a decent edge?  If so, can anyone post some pictures or C-o-C sketches for me?

This may be wrong, but this what I do when I need a chamfered edge... I can't afford an expensive tool either.

I use a center drill... carefully. I got mine for cheap!

Hope it helps
