Title: Annealing hardened bits using a Rayburn can it be done?
Post by: bry1975 on July 29, 2011, 04:51:25 PM
Chaps,

Would you say it's possible to anneal to small as in 13mm long x 10mm dia hardened bits in the families Rayburn?

TIA

Bry

Best way to anneal is to heat up to cherry red color and allow to cool as slowly as possible. The slow cooling is the key. Burying the hot part in dry wood ash will help.

Thanks Webster,

Been some years since I've done annealing probably not done any since college.
