This is another of the author's and their books that seem to be a favorite for disagreement by people involved in the casting hobby.
Ok some of the stuff, does seem silly or old fashion. But it worked then, and it still works now.
Molding sand, may be any combinations of silicates,clays,and natural bonding agents, or the addition of man made chemicals. It is different by the area it was mined. And how it was worked in that area.
It sort of a BYOMS, bring you own molding sand. Due to the weight and costs with shipping. It was a local thing.
