Post by: wheeltapper on June 09, 2013, 07:53:16 AM
Hi
I've spent the last month or so (when it was warm enough :(  ) making this engine.
when I started I didn't realize how small some of the bits were.

anyway, a couple of pics and maybe a video when/if the sun come out.

thanks for putting the link up Dave, Bogs's plans are definitely back of a fag packet level and half the fun is trying to read them

It always amazes me when I make something how many bolts get used in it, there are 70 odd in this so make sure you're stocked up :D

Looking good there Roy.
I too have just done this engine and agree that Bogs plans are not what some may call the norm but for anyone else tempted I would say go for it with enthusiasm.  Bogs drawings had all the dimensions needed and the accompanying write up gives building and general machining guidance for the novice.  As can be seen from the pictures in this thread the result is an interesting bit of machinery with lots going on when it runs.

Hi
Here we go, a video.
the timing needs a bit of a tweak, it goes better forwards.
tickover at 40psi is 280rpm, top speed is 1200rpm, might go better when its run in.

cheers
Roy.

ps I can't seem to get the link to show properly , help anyone. :smart:

pps ignore that,I just figgered it. :)

That looks mighty good there, well done

My Paddleducks engine took a while to bed in, but once it is it will run on much less PSI.

Mine runs better one direction than the other too. I can't wait to get mine running again once the new workshop is set up again.
