Hello one and all,
I am trying to post with pictures, I am unable to see any attached pictures in the preview of postings screen, I have to submit my post to see it in all its glory and then edit from there?
Happy New Year to all. JD
-
Hi JD, I`m having the same issue. The random image below for example will not show in preview, but is there!!

Somebody stole your handwheel.
-
I've just tried it, and could see my image in the preview pane. I then deleted the IMG.../IMG bit, so it won't clutter up this post.
Andy
-
JD - do you see the GBP £££ symbol just out of interest?
-
Mmmm strange, craynerd, I presume you mean the £££ signs in your post? yes to that.
Andy thanks for your input.
-
Odd. I don't have that problem with preview.
There is a ton of stuff for me to fix on this board. I just haven't had a whole lot of time as work has been busy...
Eric

Eric, sounds like you could do with a 27 hour day what with the holidays, and trying to keep all this together :bang: , a better man then me
Strange how it works ok for some and not others? I am running Firefox 8 with windows 7, does this info help.

Test for attached image in "preview"
Nope, don't see one either in preview.
Let's see if how it comes up when I post.
It shows up on the bottom left hand corner of the message as an attached file.
Now I'm going to put it in the body of the message using "img,/img". Can't use the brackets because it won't show up in the message. Can't use the same picture since it's not uploaded from a picture "provider". I'll load a picture that is hosted on my web site.
Now this will appear in the preview. My analysis of this is an attached file gets uploaded to the MadModder site and will not show in the preview. A picture embedded in the message will show up in the preview.
So it looks like we have two ways to post pictures. One is embedding them in the message if you have a host the has your pictures stored and a direct upload to MadModder if you attach it from your hard drive to MadModder. That seems to be the difference. :smart:
So, have I confused anybody? :(
Bernd

Bernd, thanks for that, my pictures are stored on my hard drive as I don't have a Picture Provider or web site so more forward planning in future.
Thanks JD
-
I believe Bernd is correct. Attached pictures do not show up in the preview like linked pictures do.
Way to go Bernd on figuring that one out!
Eric

Nothing to it Eric. I can do the easy ones. :D
All in a days work so to speak. One less thing you need to worry about.
I believe when you use the "attach" version of posting a picture it resides on your hard drive until you press the "Post" button. It then must get uploaded and posted with your message.

Thanks Gentlemen for your reply's, I have now got a Phptobucket account, this should make life easier. JD

Glad to help out JD
Bernd

....in that case, my IE browser is totally screwed!!!
No ££ signs, no preview images and worse issue of all is, once I post a reply bigger than the size of the white text box that you write in, the curser keeps jumping back up to the top!!
Anyway, no worries...as they say, it's not you- it's me!
-
That cursor antics thing is often fixed by using 'Compatibility View'
If you have it on then I've no idea...
BC
-
Chris,
BC is right. Have you got compatibility turned on? Are you using Explorer 9? I had the same problem with the cursor jumping up like that. In the upper right hand corner of your screen you'll see a magnifying glass, then what looks like a down pointing arrowhead, and then what looks like a piece of paper torn in in the middle. Click on that once and then try posting a message to this thread and tell me if it worked or not.
Bernd

Chris,
Bernd must be up to date, because IE9 only works with Windows 7 (I'm not sure about Vista).
Being on XP, I have to use IE8, but his compatibility view fix works with that.
Andy
-
Right Andy. I forgot to mention I have Windows 7 Professional and IE9.

Many thanks, I am on XP with IE8 but the compatability fix works great......... My cursor stops jumping up to the top when I posting lots of lines!! Thanks for that, it has irritated me for ages!

:loco: Mmmm I like that "nutters" it probably goes back to the days when we used to paint our bodies blue, fight in the buff, and take on all comers.
It would be nice to think nothing has changed (except for being blue and starkers)
:D :) :D :) :wack:

I run two browsers concurrently, so I can switch between both of my Hotmail accounts and both of my Yahoo mail accounts without signing out and signing back in under a different user name.
FWIW, with Firefox I see symbols on Madmodder like the pound sign and quotation marks, but with IE8 they have been substituted by square boxes since the server change. This isn't a complaint; if I'm using IE8, the intended symbol is almost always apparent from the context.
Andy

Same here on IE7. Pound signs are just a square box.

Firefox looks fine for me. Chrome looks a little weird.
I am still working on it. Work has all my time right now with a huge project I am leading...

It's no big deal BM. Take your time and hurry up :)
