Title: a couple of small hobby lathes..
Post by: johnbaz on November 06, 2010, 01:21:55 PM
Hi all

Just thought i'd show you my 'ickle Flexispeed7 lathe (only around 17" long!)..
It was made about 100 yards from where i used to live here in Sheffield!!

The lathe...

I've never gotten round to mounting and motorising it, maybe one day (if i have room ::)  )

Wade lathe...

Anyone else have any of these quaint little machines, drummond, Zyto etc???

I may be going to have a look at a Myford in a few days with a view to buying it, i'm not sure which model it is though..

It's been described as a 'restoration project', i've no idea what such a machine would be worth though

The seller is sending me some pics in a few days, i could be going to York if it looks to be worth saving :headbang:

Cheers, John

My smaller lathe is your Flexispeed's grandchild, the Perris. Pics at http://andysmachines.weebly.com/perris-baby-lathe.html

And its great-grandson is the Cowells, still available for those with deep pockets.

Hmmm- some lovely (and sturdy!!) old machines there

The second one (Wade) is a bit strange in that all the feeds work in the opposite direction so in a moment of absentmindedness, a job could be ruined

Here's my li'l faircut that needs some TLC...
