Title: S. W. Missouri says hi
Post by: Pappy Frank on May 30, 2011, 09:54:15 AM
Hello from S. W. Missouri,

I have just joined and posted a question a few minutes ago.

I have many interests and work in wood and metal.

My wood shop is quite complete and I have made many things from small to large. My son and I have made quite a number of non traditional musical instruments. I traditionally make in wood all the Christmas and Birthday gifts I give to family.

In my metal shop, I have oxy/acet torch, stick, MIG and TIG welding capability. I have two lathes a 14 X 36 and a 20 X 60 South Bend made in 1928 which I am restoring while I use it. I also have two Milling Machines, a Bridgeport and an old Brown and Sharp Horizontal Mill made in 1907. I also have a small shapper that actually belongs to my Son in Law's grandfather which is on loan to me.

I was a Paramedic for many years, but was injured a little over a year ago and am not able to work now. I am still able to do some work in my shops, but lifting is a problem. I can still do a days work, it just takes me two or three days to do it.

I have browsed this forum and am looking forward to being a part of what seems to be a good community.

God Bess all,
Pappy Frank

Welcome to the collective :borg:

Sounds like you have a nicely setup shop. How about some pictures?

Welcome Frank,

I think you suffer the same as a lot of us on here.

But unlike when you have to work for a living, working in your own shop, in your own time, you can just walk away from it when you feel you have had enough.

What you are working on won't get up and run away, it will still be there, whether it is a few hours or even a few months later.

I think that is why we enjoy doing what we do.

No matter what you get up to, I am sure you will find that you will have an appreciative audience for anything you care to show.

Frank

Welcome to MadModder Frank. It sounds like you have a well equipped shop in which to craft your wood or metal projects. If you have any questions just ask as there is always someone around to answer or at least give an opinion. Perhaps when you have the time you could post a few pictures of your shop and some of your projects to date. We look forward to your participation in the forum.

Cheers
