Title: G'day guys....greetings from sunny Queensland
Post by: verithingeeoff on April 24, 2010, 08:52:41 PM
Hi
My names Geoff, and I'm an alc.....whoa wrong forum.
Start again
I'm a retired electronics engineer, into guitars in a big way, and toy steam as well. In my last 15 years at work I was the chief engineer at a big printers in the UK, so had a lot of exposure to machine shops, I always fancied doing my own lathe work, and have been inspired by work done for me by one of your forum members, Stilldrillin'. Were both members of the main Mamod forum, and David suggsted that I join this one as a good place to start on the learning curve.
I've bought a C2 lathe which should arrive on Wednesday, and I have a large pillar drill and bench grinder with a flap wheel polisher fitted. I can weld, MIG and gas, but don't have the facilities these days. I also own a Mazda MX5 and help to run a Mazda forum ..
I'll probably just look and learn for a while, but when I get going I'm sure I'll be a regular visitor

Cheers guys

Hey there Geoff!

Welcome to the collective :borg:

Quite a few of us are into the electronics bit (I am in the very very early stages). I don't play guitar, but I enjoy making pedals and stuff for my brother in-law who is very much into them.

David is a great guy. Did you get one of his wick holders? Some pictures of the steam toys and Mazda would be nice (hint hint)

Eric

Hi Guys
Yes, I bought a couple of wick holders from David, also the air adaptors fitted to the engines in the folowing vids were made by him. He's my motivator for getting into turning---(http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j183/gwa_2006/Avatars%20etc/aussie-emoticon1-1.gif)
Here's a bit of video of some of my SEL engines.

Geoff

Welcome to MadModder Geoff. Looks like a nice collection of guitars and engines you have going there. Now with your new lathe you will be able to make a few more to add to your collection. If you have any questions just ask. There is always someone around to answer or at least give you an opinion. Your MX5 is a nice looking car.  :D :D

Cheers

Don

Hi Geoff  welcome to the club.

You have some lovely Axe's there, I used to play a lot, not so much recently, but a few years ago myself and my best friend built our own guitars, I built a strat copy and he built a tele, then I built a 5-string bass.

I just wish I had more talent in playing the darn things  :bang:

Anyway, welcome to the club

Tim
