Is anybody familiar with this piece of kit, I don't seem to be able to find anything on the squinternet.

Can any one tell me what does the screw on the lefthand side of the body in the photo do?

Am I right in thinking that if I line the crosshair on a dot on the milling table and then rotate the device  around  the vertical axis the dot should remain centered if the piece of kit is adjusted correctly?

The third question is what should be in the empty square in the box?
