As usual this project did not turn out how I envisioned it! I have retired, moved house and downsized my sanctuary (shed), since I last posted a project.
It started with these HSS blanks on Ebay. They were less than £3.00 each. So after cutting one in half, I ground up these tools (more on the grinder in a later post.)
As you can see for, 80% of the work I do on the lathe in either steel or brass one these two tools are my first choice an save me scrabbling about in the box of previously made tools.

Do you have drawings with all of the angles for both bits?
-
Sorry, no but in general all approach and clearance angles are 5 deg. Parting tool side clearance, vertical and horizontal, 1.5 deg. 0 deg top rake for brass and I used a 6mm dia high speed grinding bit to put the chipbreaker grooves in the tool for steel (and Aluminium).
All will become clearer when I post the tool grinder project (Coming SOON).
Ian.
