there have been some airshows around lately, Lowestoft and Cromer.
I live near Norwich airport and the planes use that as a base. when the Red Arrows come in they fly right over our house.
great show for free.

Hi Paul
Strangely, I was nattering to a model-aircraft mate about three weeks ago on the subject, he had a big model one.
AFAIK no original survived, but there have been many replicas built. Some for the Blue Max film, some for fun.
Generally don't have the original rotary engine though.
He seemed to think there is/was a company in Germany making replicas.
Don't the geezers in Duxford do that sort of thing, ie restore old aircraft to the point where about 95% is no longer original.
Anyway, model aircraft and me don't get on...
Stunt flying .... null points ..
Impromptu Post-hole boring .... ten Points ... :( :(

St. Louis Missouri had a visitor in the form of a B-17 "Flying Fortress" over this past week end. This particular aircraft, the Liberty Bell, was one of the last built and never saw combat.
They even sold rides for the "well heeled". The tickets were $430 each. (about 300 quid I think) Needless to say I stayed on the ground.

That ride sounds like a bargain. In Mount Hope, Ontario we have the Lancaster, one of 2 in airworthy condition. Basic senior membership is $100.00 and for Bomber Crew Membership which is an additional $2,000.00 you may have the privilege of a one hour flight in the Lancaster (includes donation receipt for $1000.00). I can't afford it but if I ever win the lottery I know one of the things that I am going to do. :D :D

around here those ag planes hit the fence post all the time every now and then a tree will get cliped.
i remember when working there once we were loading the plane full of defoliant and for got to remove the hose (dont ask)
the plane took off and the hose went with it about 50 feet of hose flying around the pilot landed and said it felt like something was
dragging the ground we just shut up removed the hose and went on with the job hahaha (crop dusters there called here)

Yes, well didn't knock em down but did manage to fly into them with my Radio Control aircraft. Those aircraft are amazing. on a 100 acre sod farm with only 1 or 2 trees the airplane will always seem to find them. Just ask anybody that has flown Radio Control.

Can't say to the RC airplanes, But I know the same effect is on RC cars can be in the middle of a ten acre parking lot, or dirt plot. And my 1/6 scale 2 stroke weed wacker buggy will find any piece of metal that can get around the belly plates and break the steering. It is sitting on the bench now waiting for repairs, when I get some extra time.
I know when I was doing Hot air balloons it seemed some people flying could hit a tree or branches of the only tree in a 40 acre field, no matter which way they came in and how far they were away from it
