Title: Also got the H1N1-sbwhart virus .... another one that rocks.
Post by: raynerd on July 23, 2009, 02:06:03 PM: I don`t know why I`m posting this - it isn`t neat and it isn`t pretty but it does run, to a fashion! It is going in the project logs because it certainly isn`t finished yet. I`m going away next week so won`t get any shop time and with this terrible virus H1N1-sbwhart rocker strain going around, I have been dying to see if I could get one to run.

This was more of a test than anything, to see if I could get the rocker concept to work but I`m 100% going to remake this engine fully blinged up. I quite like the enlarged piston block and I`ll mount this on a base plate for the final piece.

Sorry, not the nicest engine in the pack but I really enjoyed making it, probably took about 3 hours and then 30 minutes with it today fine tuning to get it to run. It doesn`t run very well at all but this is because I haven`t made the bushing and consequently there is too much play in the crank.

All will be fixed when I get home along with a good polish and bling up - certainly going to stick to the enlarged cylinder block and base, I like the look.

madmodderrockerprojectitus is certainly spreading around and don't worry when this virus starts to wain I've got a follow on lined up but that's a secwet .

Stew, I have just been to the doctors and he has has told me categorically that the government have re-classified the H1N1-sbwhart rocker strain to "no longer effecting the population" and apparently I am one of the last to catch it...... now spill your secret!!! :poke: :poke:

lol :) only joking, I`m on holiday for a week so.... keep um` waiting lol

Post by: sbwhart on July 23, 2009, 06:01:45 PM: After I'd soldered the bush I expected it to run correct way but no, it was only after I'd got rid of the sticky oil that it ran OK. I think what was happening, upside down it was getting a bit of help from gravity giving the extra momentum to overcome the sticky oil. You've probably got a little bit of friction in the system, with little engines their biggest enemy is friction, they like things on the slack side.

As the my old dad always said "a little bit of clearance never got in the way"
