Title: HMEM - 403 Forbidden
Post by: sorveltaja on February 01, 2010, 03:12:22 PM
Not sure, if it's proper to ask this here, but is anyone else experiencing the '403 Forbidden' at hmem, or is it just me ?

Spoke with Rick.  Apparently the server traffic is over the limit and the provider shut it down, until Kevin can look into things. No word as to how soon it will be back up, but Rick assured me it will be back as soon as possible.

Gee, I found THIS forum through THAT forum.  Now I can come to this forum to find out what's wrong with that forum.

Nice to be able to commiserate with friendly faces and still get my shop talk fix here on MadModder.

This site and HMEM are kinda related... I had this board up once a few years back and didn't like the way it was going so I closed it. Joined HMEM and found nutters (such as myself) who had other interests besides model engines. Decided to bring this place back up with a new format. So yeah, as a mod there myself, and we share some mods... talk of HMEM is just fine here.

Hate to be the one that raises this point but could it happen here?

My wife is a horse freak and she belongs to boards that have members in the thousands and they pay a small amount to keep there board running without advertising or any stuff like that.

I know someone around here is paying for what we have!. I don’t think that  is fare to that individual.

My preference would be to pay a token amount each month and keep the site what  we have. Hassle free with no BS.

I know I am going to piss off a lot people but business is business.

I await your responses.

Anthony.

Anthony....
It's a subject that has been broached before. The only one it'll be likely to piss of is Rick. Many of us have offered to lend a hand but the answer has always been a loud and resounding negative.... sometimes colored with a bunch of very blue and descriptive expletives.... (grin) I've heard all those words before, so I'm still willing to make the offer, if for no other reason than to wind his crank...LOL

Still no change  :( Like others, I thought I'd broken something, so it's a bit of a relief to learn it's not just me.

I am not sure how Rick is paying for his site. He doesn't take donations... I have tried. As far as here goes... we are doing OK. I pay for the hosting out of pocket. We haven't come close to hitting the bandwidth like HMEM.

HMEN have a 403 call out again I assume its the same problem as before.

Is it a bit like a 1030 or a 911     is it a police code.

Calling all cars we have a 403 some ones pinched the HMEN server.

OK I'll go and watch the football (soccer) that will keep me from getting board and making silly posts.

Still out here in LALAland.  Actually, the service has been deteriorating for a while.  For the last two weeks or so, there have been numerous occasions each day where, for a short period, it wouldn't respond to anything I clicked on and I would get a "server reset connection" message or some such.  I think the server is either flaky or they're tweaking us because we're using too much of their bandwidth.
