Gentlemen, I have been asked to refurbish this baby lathe, problem their is no manufactures data plate.
Could anybody put a name little gem please.
-
That gem is a Haighton SS&SC (surface sliding and screw cutting) 2½" centre lathe .
They were the precursor to the better know Haighton cadet (which was back-geared). They are rare, I know of only half a dozen others. It was made between 1949 and 1953.
Could you check the underside of the tail-stock (and cross-slide) for any serial number for me please?

Can I pinch the pictures for my website?

Bill thanks for the reply, as you can see there is quite a bit missing but it works well and seems to be solid with no movement in the head and tail stock.
Help yourself to the pictures, I have more on file and I can take more of a better quality if you wish.
can I copy your sales promo for the owner.
