Thanks guys it's made a usefull accessory for the lathe
-
Nice job.. can you enlighten us as to how you allowed the cross slide to move freely, I assume that you disconnected the cross slide from its lead screw to allow free front to back movement (Y axis)..
Regards

Yes I removed the cross slide nut it's only held on with a allen screw
No need to remove the cross slide just wind it to its limit out of the nut then undo the allen screw

well dun

Looks great. Might have to have a go at that myself.

Hi fletch
Nice to see you contributing to the forum, a neat and simple solution, involving little cost.
Cheers David

Hallo mfletch
Could you please tell us how you made the triangular holder for the bearings, getting it 'right' without any slack or tightness?
Thanks
Johannes

It just happened to be like that don't know what it was off but it's not hard to make one it can be round square any shape just do 2 bearings first then put the bar you want to use up to the 2 bearings slide the third bearing up to the other side of the bar in between the other two bearings and mark the hole make this hole slightly bigger and this gives you the adjustment to take out any slack
