3D printed patterns for mould making are fairly common these days but I had never heard of directly printed sand casts until today. I was completely blown away by the quality of the end product. I think a lot of folks here will find this very entertaining despite the really awful background music.

I've done the patterns for sandcasting it worked out not bad.

Well the solution they print is a mix of waterglass some solvent and a hardener that is propriertary.. when you figure out the mix, making a powder printer is really not the hard part.

A friend has a business that re manufactures pumps. He went from 4 guys in a pattern shop to one guy and a Z-Corp printer to make impeller patterns! Still sand casting, but the Z Corp printers work by fusing powder wit glue/ink. Nice because you can print in colour if you want..

Google Machinable Wax's 3D printing wax filament, it's here already ;-)
