And here's another small project which I have recently finished,this saw, I found in the friends garage, in the center of landfill parts,condition as usual lamentable rust and dirt covered most of the surface,but surprisingly the rotation was very smooth without scoring, and falls.

As can be seen on the plate it was an old Chinese saw the production of Chen Feng,1977.

I decided to make a new stand fo it,made a sketch and sent to friends on the assembly:

In the process of preparation, I drew attention to the fact that the main pulley was broken in three places so it had to weld,is not beautiful but functional and made by professional,a frend.

That is a great project. There is nothing wrong with your English at all, every picture is great and the written text is better than my English. That saw should last you for a long time and the fact that you rescued it will make it special to you. Thanks for sharing it with us. :ddb: :ddb:

Thanks for showing the saw. A good rebuild. I wish I could find things like that in my friends' garages.
Just one question: in your Micro-workshop thread, you said "...And about the workshop, it's on my balcony...."
:bugeye: How much weight will that balcony carry?

I enjoyed reading your power hacksaw restoration very much perhaps someday i will have a go at making mine a bit prettier it is of 6"x6" cutting capacity and does a great job of the big stuff .

I have a little process question. How do you get it all put back together right? Do you just remember/figure it out, take lot of pictures you refer back to, or do you make sketches?
I've been going the sketches and pictures route, but I always seem to forget something important that comes back to bite me on the ass.

Not only do you make nice stuff, but you obviously have a good mechanical sense... I'm very impressed by your rebuild! Not many would continue after they find something as bad as the pulley...

Good job on the restoration. I used to have a few of these that were destined to be restored, but I couldn't find the time and I came across a bandsaw so I sold the hacksaws - one of which I think will get the restoration it deserved. A big old piece of iron never ceases to get me all nostalgic though.
Your english seems fine, but the makers of the machine could have used a few hours on Google Translate themselves. I do love a good bit of Chinglish..... "HACK SAWING MACHINE"

This beautiful rebuilt has inspired me to build that power hacksaw I have always wanted. I plan to use ground steel flat stock for the guide arm.
I assume the main pulley is cast iron? Have had minor success silver soldering, but see why you went with a professional for the weld job.

This machine has already paid off a hundred times, I can not imagine how he had lived without,it is sawn half a dozen pounds of aluminum :thumbup:

Very nice job on the restoration. We had an identical saw in our shop many years ago--it served us well. Keep it well greased and the gibs snugged up and it will cut straighter than any bandsaw. We rebushed the crank once or twice and also the pump mechanism that provides the lift--keep that working well so the blade really lifts slightly on the backstroke and your blades will stay sharper and last a lot longer. If you're cutting only solids you can get away with a pretty coarse blade--it's been awhile so I'm guessing perhaps 6 tpi--but we settled on something around 10 tpi for general cutting. Something in the range of a 5/8 vari-tooth would be a good compromise if you can get one. Funny, it's been close to 25 years since we got rid of it but as I'm sit here writing this I can hear the thing chugging away in the background, just as it did in the shop. It wasn't particularly fast but it was comforting to hear it ticking away on a piece of 6" round or square while you worked on something else...
