I second the screwless vise.

Make it three votes.

I have one very similar to the one Colin posted. It fits nicely on my X2 and I can drop it in the vise from my knee mill if I need it there, already squared up.
As noted, the fixed jaw has an M8x1.5 hole on each side, very handy for mounting a stop.

I've  got one of these screwless vices and it works OK for me. You'll need to make some clamps for it, mine didn't come with any.
I've also got a 4" vice, similar to this one Small vice (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-H-D-SWIVEL-BASE-MILLING-MACHINE-VICE-OGL-59004H_W0QQitemZ170419479927QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Hand_Tools_Equipment?hash=item27adcae577). Without the swivel part, it just fits the X2.

No, They have temporarily stopped taking orders to catch up on backlogs -  the whole catalogue is suspended

Darren, the top of the Chronos page says they aren't accepting orders for anything while they clear up a backlog. Sounds like Santa will have a lot to carry this Christmas.

They probably got behind due to attending the recent ME Expo at Sandown.

I have an X2 and have the quick vice which came with it which I do NOT recommend, it is OK after I sorted it out as StillDrillin showed me in one of his posts...

I`ve recently seen one of these screwless vice on an X2, looked and worked great. Not got one myself, yet, but certainly worth considering!

Regarding Chronos, I bet they are missing a fair bit of Christmas trade suspending there orders. Although even now, 10 days before Christmas it is unlikely it would arrive in time anyway!

Chris,

My "free" quick vice is still doing all I ask of it. Still straight & square......  :D

All I did was to mill the locating faces correctly, & assemble with loctite, everywhere!

I'll add my voice to the bunch happy with their screwless vises. I have that 2" and it's great. Square as square gets. The only grump I have with the thing is when I use the short cross pin. Sometimes it wants to twist in the slot and not tighten correctly. Annoying but easily straightened out.

I hope Chronos is not too awful backed up. I just ordered a Glanze profiling tool from their eBay store yesterday.

Here you go Ian!

Apart from the terrible fixed jaw face, there was no problem, other than needing deburring & screwing together firmly with loctite.

Good luck!
