Hi Guys
I live in Pretoria. I have quite a few hobbies but due to time constraints they do not get an equal amount of attention especially with the other half always thinking of "higher priority" chores that must be done first.
I have a backyard foundry with an oil fired burner, I mainly do lost foam casting for most of my projects.
In my home workshop I have a chinese lathe milling machine combination (HQ800) which I aquired recently and then there is my favourite, old trusted Myford ML7, probably older than me but still working perfectly.
I also belong to a rifle shooting club where I shoot full bore and air rifle, I absolutely love my PCP air rifles.
I attached two photos of recent projects, (I hope the attachments are successfull) the first one is a casting I did for a steady for my Myford lathe and the second photo is two tangential tool holders one left and the other right hand, they are made out of 2 parts, and welded together and just to be a little fancy I parkerized the surface.
Thank-you for the warm welcome.

Welcome aboard Bucksie.
How are you doing your parkerising? Kit or home brew?

Thank-you Awemawson
It is a homebrew mixture of manganese dioxide (the black stuff in torch batteries) and some phosphoric acid (rust remover) and water. Just boil the part in he mixture for about 20 minutes.

Thanks - tell me your recipe, as I bought the manganese dioxide and phosphoric acid a few months ago to have a go and never got round to it. How much, how long, how hot. In fact just HOW ?

Welcome Buksie! It looks like you're going to have to start some threads right off. Andrew wants your Parkerizing secrets and I'd like to see more of your tangential tool holders. I don't imagine that's an end to it either :)
Looking forward to your posts!

Hi guys
Thank-you again for the warm welcome, as promised I started a post outlining my parkerising technique under "Finishing".
Next I will do a write-up for the tangential tool holders I made as vtsteam did ask some more information about them.
Have a nice one.

Very good. Nice to see people showing their projects. Both projects interests me. I have experimented with homebrew parkerizing and tangetial toolholder is still "in design stage"
