Hello all,
Wasn't sure where to post this, so apologize if it's in the wrong section. I'm looking for some extension springs, roughly 2-3mm in diameter (no larger) probably 40-50mm MAX in length. I am not sure about tension. Does anyone know where I could buy a few/a selection? I've bought a set off ebay, but most of them are going to be far too large for what I have in mind.
I'm in the UK btw.
Thanks for any info!

Hi
the first thing that springs to mind is to try Proops brothers ltd or ebay
John
or try RS components 821-469 or 751-679

If you search for the springs used for drives on Mamod and Wilesco steam engines, I think that there are two different sizes, that come in long lengths. You can just cut off the length you require and bend up a loop either end.
You are better off searching on ebay for 'mamod drive belts', as they are normally a lot cheaper than genuine spares sellers.
I have some in stock very similar, but it is larger than you require, around 4mm diameter.

Thank you all! Excellent info here! I searched for a while but couldn't find what I was looking for, youve led me right to it :)
I particularly enjoyed the tutorial on making your own springs. This is a must - I will have to get set up for this eventually. As for now, I can kind of get away with a few options the set off ebay I bought gave me. And some of the links provided give even smaller springs, so I have plenty of options.
Thanks again :)

Try Springmasters at Redditch they make and sell about every spring available.
