That's a handy weapon John!   :bugeye:

When the head's mushroomed....... Just re cast!

I used a lead hammer, around that size, for the wire wheel nuts on my old MG.

Not that I am a metal abuser, but I cast a 10 lb'er. 4.5 kg for the rest of the world.

That's a nice new hammer! Now, my question is: What do you use it for? What is a lead hammer better at than a dead blow or brass hammer?

A brass hammer will mar a piece of steel with a good finish. A dead blow will not do as good a job as a lead hammer in seating a part on parallels. I use both, but still prefer the lead hammer for certain jobs.

Hi I have had one of these hammer moulds for years and never seen another until now ,I believe the company also made a mould for making lead jaws for a vise but have never seen one .

Hi John
We used to use those hammers for all sorts of jobs in the workshop, when they got worn and wobbly we would take them to the stores to part exchange for a new one. I never really liked the round gas pipe handles especially if your hands were a bit  oily.

                                 Cheers  David
