Title: Simple Depth Stop
Post by: Corvus corax on March 28, 2011, 09:05:58 AM
A very simple depth stop for the lathe.

Personally, I would have used aluminium but the brass looks cool.

Sorry to say, but I don't understand how it works  :loco: :loco: :loco:

Hi Saw

Took me a couple of minutes ...

When the two screws are tightened, the two parts slide against each other a small amount.

The relative displacement thus locks the assembly in the bore of the spindle.

I think that's what happens anyway ...

Good idea, thanks to C C for posting that

Don't worry, when I first saw it I also wondered what the hell was going on.

That's pretty much how I understand it as well. Looks simple and quick to make.

A friend of mine just bought a 9x20 clone and needs something like this, it might be a good tutorial for him.
Just not sure how badly my angle grinder-offcut machine would mutilate that angle. The Alu cutting discs I have don't seem to cut that cleanly.
