So any of you lads ever converted a log firred stove to a kiln or forge?
Thanks
Bry

No, but Ive put aluminium scrap as a test in my woodburning stove firebox when it was burning dry oak with a few years age in it and melted the scrap into liquid. It appeared you could just make a crucible holder to hold it all in place and use a normal fire without any conversion.

Arr oks kool.
I know with our log stove it's crazy the heat that can be generated with lumps of timber, I've seen CP 1 or CP 2 titanium glow cherry red. :D

Stove to furnace ! What a great idea. No need to build a furnace, just do a few 'adaptions' on the pot - belly and away we go. Ally casting ! no problem.
Then I remembered that my stove chimney is made from aluminium tube.
Need to change that.
