Good vid again there John

Brought back a good few memories when I work ( time served ) at Stanton lots of moulding went on there ( they had a training school for the apprentice moulders )

most of the work was rammed up with a sand slinger , but a lot was old school including vertical pipe casting to 36 inch, I had two uncles that were in the moulding trade one a brass Moulder the other worked on the big stuff ( slag ladles ) they were done without patterns the mould being built up with bricks sand clay horse dung and struck off with a shaped strickle , these took a long time to build up.

as was the norm the moulding building had very few windows and were quite dark to enable the guys to see the colour of the metal

when I left I had just installed 3 750kw induction furnaces for ductile iron from which amongst other things was cast nut and bolts ( shell moulding ) that could be screwed together without machining

the about furnaces were the babies up Dale and 18 foot they had 1.5 mega watt jobs

rest assured they to had the same problems with the patterns as you had

I think we will need a 45 gal oil drum for the swear box

John  could you not have used a core like a packet of fags to form the slot in the first pattern located in the drag and cope ?
