Title: Yet another DRO mounted on a mini-lathe
Post by: David Kirtley on October 23, 2011, 08:03:04 PM
I have been trying to figure out how to mount my DRO on my lathe. This is what I came up with.

I used the mount for the splash guard to mount one side:

The other side, I did drill and tap a hole for mounting:

The one thing I did that was different was I did not permanently attach the bracket to the lathe saddle. Instead, I used a rare earth magnet from a hard disk:

Here is the same thing with a different view:

And here is the operator's view of the readout:

Hi David!

Looks good, but it is kind of hard to see. Anyway you could make the pictures larger?

Also, Welcome to the collective :borg: !!

Definitely interested in seeing larger pictures as I want to attempt this myself sometime soon.

I thought I did post bigger ones :)

I am going to have to figure out how to get to link the originals. I will try again :)

We have a couple of stickied posts in the GALLERY (http://madmodder.net/index.php?board=11.0) that may help?

I think I have it figured out now. Here they are in a more reasonable size.

David,

Thanks for posting. They always say bigger is better , but just right is best. Usally at 800X 600. Pictures look good.

Hi Chuck,

It is the cheap 12in DRO from Grizzly. $35 on Grizzly when I bought but $33 on Amazon with free shipping. I am going to have to see what I can do for the cross slide and maybe the compound.

Nice. I've got an extra iGaging DRO hanging around and that's a good place to put it.

Nice setup.    That is one my to-do list... tho I may wait for the bigger lathe first.
